A Fresh Start to the Year

The year began on a heartwarming note, highlighting the joy that animals experience when given even small moments of freedom and care. One standout story featured Charlotte enjoying a rare beach outing—reminding us how important enrichment and love are for animals awaiting homes.

Take a Shelter Dog to the Beach

Thank you Tim. These moments not only uplift the animals but also inspire the community to support adoption and volunteer efforts. Charlotte is up for adoption.

Community Outreach

Knysna Animal Welfare Society continues to prioritise proactive outreach through ongoing sterilisation drives and feral cat trapping programmes across the Greater Knysna area. These initiatives are essential in humanely managing animal populations, preventing the cycle of unwanted litters, and reducing the number of animals that end up suffering from neglect, disease, or abandonment. Sterilisation not only improves the long-term health and wellbeing of pets, but also lessens the strain on shelters and community resources.

Our feral cat trapping efforts follow a trap-neuter-return (TNR) approach, which helps stabilise colonies, minimise conflict with residents, and significantly improve the quality of life for these animals. Through this continued outreach, KAWS is working towards a more sustainable and compassionate future for both animals and the community.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Knysna Animal Welfare Society extends its sincere gratitude to Julie for her generous sponsorship of the outreach vehicle, which is already making a meaningful difference in expanding our reach into the community and helping animals in need. This contribution strengthens our ability to respond, rescue, and support more effectively.
